Etymology

"The epithet honours the late Lyndley Alan Craven (1945–2014) for his extensive field and revisionary work. Lyn recognised that the Kimberley specimens assigned to G. kakadu Carolin were significantly different from the type of that species. In late 2013, Lyn encouraged the first author to investigate the differences and formally describe this species. We, hereby, name this species in his memory. The small size of this species and microscopic defining characters reflect Lyn’s attention to detail, both in the field and in the herbarium."
