Etymology

"The epithet is from the Latin <i>mimicus</i> (to mimic), in reference to the similarity, and possible mimicry, between flowers of <i>Lindernia hypandra</i> (Linderniaceae) with which it grows, in having flowers with similar colouration and orientation, although they are larger in <i>Lechenaultia mimica</i> (Fig. 5D, E)."
