Etymology

"The epithet amphora is from the Latin amphora – amphora, a container shaped in an obovoid form, used in vast numbers for the transport and storage of various products, both liquid and dry, but mostly for wine during the reign of the ancient Roman Empire. The epithet amphora is used as a noun in apposition and refers to the hypanthium as well as the seed capsule of this species being of a similar shape to an amphora."
