Introduction

Valdés & Gosliner (2001) proposed Taringa Er. Marcus 1955 as the valid name for this genus based on prevailing usage and considered Aporodoris Ihering, 1886 a nomen oblitum under Article 23.9 of the ICZN. However, as discussed by Dayrat (2010), the conditions of recognising Taringa as valid under Article 23.9 are not met as several species have been described in the genus since 1899 (e.g., Aporodoris merria Burn, 1973 ). While both names appear to be in use we retain Aporodoris as the valid genus name.
