    Comment: Miskin in the original description mentioned both sexes and also mentioned types (plural); Hancock, D.L. 1995. The butterfly types of W. H. Miskin in the Queensland Museum (Lepidoptera). Memoirs of the Queensland Museum 38(2): 519–528 [523] (listed two syntypes in the QM and gave type information). Braby (2024) designated a lectotype male (QM T.12401) in the Queensland Museum, and three paralectotpes (2♂, 1♀) in the Australian Museum and Queensland Museum.

    Comment: Lucas in the original description did not indicate the number of specimens described, but both sexes are mentioned; Tindale, N.B. 1923. On Australian Rhopalocera. Transactions of the Royal Society of South Australia 47: 342–354 pls 28–30 [344] (referred to a type male and female in the SAM); Edwards, E.D., Newland, J. & Regan, L. 2001. Lepidoptera: Hesperioidea, Papilionoidea. In Wells, A. & Houston, W.W.K. Zoological Catalogue of Australia. Vol. 31.6. Melbourne : CSIRO Publishing, Australia. x 615 pp. (Tindale's (1923) ambiguous comment is interpreted as a type male and type female and cannot be a lectotype designation). Braby (2024) examined and illustrated Lucas' two syntypes in SAMA and designated a lectotype male and a paralectotype female.

Introduction

Candalides albosericea (Miskin, 1891) is a junior subjective synonym of Holochila caeruleolactea T.P. Lucas, 1891, which has not been used as a valid name after 1899. To protect the stability of the younger, but widely used name, Braby (2024) suppressed the older and virtually unknown Holochila caeruleolactea (i.e., the senior subjective synonym) under Article 23.9.2 of the Fourth Edition of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. By this action, Holochila albosericea Miskin, 1891 becomes a nomen protectum and Holochila caeruleolactea T.P. Lucas, 1891 a nomen oblitum.
