Introduction

Pseudocumatidae is a family comprising 39 species in 13 genera world-wide. The family is primarily known from the North Atlantic and associated basins (Mediterranean, Black Sea, Sea of Azov, Caspian Sea), with three representatives from the southern hemisphere. Two occur in Australia (30 April 2025).

The monophyly of the family was confirmed by the phylogenetic analysis of Gerken et al. (2021).
