Introduction
Jensen & Bullard (2010) proposed a classification scheme of 15 metacestode types/forms, of which eight were genetically matched to known genera. The form identified then as 'Larval Type 1' was provided the generic identity of Phoreiobothrium and Triloculatum. Cutmore et al. (2024) expanded upon the work of Jensen & Bullard (2010), and focused on metacestodes collected from Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia, providing additional genetic data and recognised teleost hosts for these genera. Importantly, Triloculatum does not occur in Australian waters, and all listed teleost hosts in Cutmore et al. (2024) relate solely to Phoreiobothrium.
