  Type species:

   Phyllobothroides spinulifera Southwell, 1912 (=Dicranobothrium spinulifera (Southwell, 1912)) by original designation.

 

Introduction

In a study of metacestodes collected from Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia, Cutmore et al. (2024) recognised eight morphological types, of which seven have been previously reported by Jensen & Bullard (2010), and one which is novel. The novel form is recognised as Larval Type XVI, with genetic analyses confirming its generic identity as Platybothrium. The study provided a list of teleost hosts, which are listed here.
