Introduction

Sayciidae was introduced as a subfamily Saycinae [sic.] of Chyrodoridae Stebbing, 1902 by Frey (1967) who diagnosed it as follows: No visible pores on head shield. Mandibles articulate at or near junction of head shield and shell; Setae on thoracic limbs III, IV, and V number 8, 8, and 6, respectively. Gut without anterior caeca. Anus at some distance from end of postabdomen. Postabdomen flattened, with group of margnal spinules on both sides of dorsal margin distally, a single row proximally. Larger specimens polyembryonic. Males not known.
